Compare AC efficiency: SEER2 ratings by comfort level

SEER2 is the federal efficiency rating for air conditioners and heat pumps. The higher the number, the less electricity your system uses for the same cooling, and in Central Florida your AC runs most of the year. Here’s how our four comfort levels compare.

*Estimated cooling energy savings compared with an older 10 SEER system (about 9.5 SEER2), based on rated efficiency. Actual savings depend on your home, how you use your system and your utility rates.

What you gain as you step up

  • Lower electric bills. Each step up in SEER2 uses less electricity for the same cooling.
  • Drier, more comfortable air. Two-stage and variable-speed systems run longer at lower speeds, so they pull more humidity out of your home.
  • Even temperatures. Fewer on-off cycles mean fewer hot and cold spots from room to room.
  • Quieter operation. Lower speeds mean a quieter outdoor unit and gentler airflow inside.
  • More protection. Higher comfort levels come with a longer Comfort Guarantee, and every level includes our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee for 2 years.

Customer favorite

100% Satisfaction Guarantee for 2 years

We guarantee your new system will heat and cool your home per our Comfort Guarantee design temperatures. If it doesn’t heat or cool your home to your satisfaction in the first two years, we’ll remove it and refund 100% of your investment.* You can’t lose.

Comfort Guarantee

We size your system with a heat-load calculation, then guarantee it will hold 75°F inside on a 92°F day, and 70°F on a 45°F day with a heat pump or gas furnace. If it can’t, we replace it at no charge.* Coverage runs 1 to 5 years, depending on your comfort level.

$500 No Frustration Guarantee

If equipment we installed breaks down in the first two years and leaves you without heating or cooling, we will respond within 48 hours of your call, or we’ll pay you $500.

No Lemon Guarantee

If your compressor fails in the first 10 years, you get a new compressor.** On our top comfort levels, if it fails in the first 5 years, the original owner gets a completely new outdoor unit instead.

Apples to Apples Guarantee

Everything included in your installation is in writing. If you find a truly comparable installation for less, we’ll match the price and pay you $100.

Property Protection & Client Respect Guarantee

Our installers are drug-screened and background-checked. They protect your floors and your home, never smoke or swear while they’re there, answer your questions with courtesy and leave your home as clean as they found it.

*The Satisfaction and Comfort Guarantees apply after we analyze the system, and require that any recommended performance upgrades are completed and that Roman Air maintains the system. **On our first two comfort levels, labor to install the new compressor is extra. Guarantees don’t cover existing or reused parts of your system. You get the full terms in writing with your quote.

Warranties for every budget

Every new system also comes with a 10-year parts warranty. You choose 1, 2, 5 or 10 years of labor coverage, and we register the warranty for you.

How we design a custom AC system for your home

No two homes are alike, so we never size a new system by square footage alone. At your free in-home visit, we do a whole-home analysis with one goal: the best possible solution for your home and your budget.

  1. Whole-home analysis. We look for hot spots and hot rooms, check humidity and indoor air quality, and look for any safety or electrical hazards.
  2. Manual J heat load calculation. We measure walls and windows and inspect your attic insulation, then run a Manual J calculation to find the right system size.
  3. Duct and airflow inspection. We inspect your ductwork and run a static pressure test so your new system gets the airflow it needs.
  4. Clear options in writing. You get a written quote for each comfort level, with warranty and financing choices.
  5. Installed right, in one day. We braze under a nitrogen purge, pull a deep vacuum and set the refrigerant charge by superheat and subcooling.
  6. Walkthrough and warranty registration. We show you how your new system works and register your warranty for you.

What’s included in every installation

  • Permit and final inspection
  • Whole-home analysis and Manual J heat load calculation
  • Duct static pressure test
  • Equipment pad with hurricane tie-downs
  • Electrical disconnect and whip
  • Float switch and drain kit
  • Sealed duct connections
  • Nitrogen purge and deep vacuum
  • Refrigerant charge set by superheat and subcooling
  • Walkthrough and warranty registration
  • Removal and disposal of your old system

What can change your price

Where you land in our price range depends on three choices: the comfort level, the protection (labor coverage and guarantee terms) and the technology (efficiency, compressor type and smart controls). Your home can also change the price:

  • Replacing the copper refrigerant line set
  • Ductwork repairs or replacement
  • Electrical panel upgrades
  • Hard-to-reach attics or crane sets
  • Homes with two systems
  • An indoor unit in the attic, a gas furnace or a package unit

Tax credits and rebates in 2026

The federal 25C tax credit ended on December 31, 2025, so it doesn’t apply to systems installed in 2026. At your visit, we check whether your electric utility offers a rebate at your address.

AC replacement questions

How much does AC replacement cost in St. Cloud, Kissimmee, Lake Nona and Orlando?

A new 3-ton central air conditioner, installed by Roman Air, costs about $8,950 to $19,500 in 2026. Where you land in that range depends on the comfort level, the protection and the technology you choose. Every price includes the permit, inspection, Manual J load calculation and removal of your old system. To see the price for your home’s size, or for a heat pump, use the instant estimate at the top of this page.

What size AC do I need for my home?

As a starting point, homes up to 1,200 square feet usually need about 2 tons, 1,500 to 1,800 square feet about 3 tons, 2,200 to 2,700 square feet about 4 tons, and homes over 2,700 square feet about 5 tons. Square footage alone can be off, so we confirm the size with a Manual J heat load calculation based on your walls, windows, insulation and ductwork.

How long does an AC replacement take?

Most replacements are finished in one day, including startup, testing and a walkthrough of your new system.

Is a heat pump a good choice in Central Florida?

Often, yes. A heat pump cools just like an AC and heats much more efficiently than electric heat strips on our mild winter days. It usually costs a little more up front than an AC with electric heat, and the instant estimate shows both for your home.

What SEER2 rating should I choose?

SEER2 measures cooling efficiency, and higher numbers mean lower electric bills. Our systems range from 15.2 SEER2 (Essential) up to 21 SEER2 (Roman Air Signature), which use an estimated 37% to 55% less cooling energy than an older 10 SEER system. Two-stage and variable-speed systems also remove more humidity, which makes a big difference in a Florida summer.

Do I need a permit to replace my AC in Florida?

Yes. Replacing an AC system in Florida requires a permit and an inspection. Every Roman Air installation includes both, and the cost is in our prices.

Is there a federal tax credit for a new AC in 2026?

No. The federal 25C energy efficiency tax credit ended on December 31, 2025, so it doesn’t apply to systems installed in 2026. At your visit, we check whether your electric utility offers a rebate at your address.

Can I finance a new AC system?

Yes. With approved credit, financing is available at 13.49% APR for 180 months, and the instant estimate shows an estimated monthly payment. See financing options.

Is the in-home estimate free?

Yes. The in-home visit is free. We do a whole-home analysis and give you a written quote for each option, with warranty and financing choices.

What warranty comes with a new AC system?

Every new system includes a 10-year parts warranty. You choose 1, 2, 5 or 10 years of labor coverage to fit your budget, and we register the warranty for you. Every install is also backed by our six guarantees, including our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee for 2 years.

What guarantees come with a new AC installation?

Every Roman Air system install is backed by six written guarantees: our customer-favorite 100% Satisfaction Guarantee for 2 years, a Comfort Guarantee, a $500 No Frustration Guarantee, a No Lemon Guarantee, an Apples to Apples Guarantee and a Property Protection & Client Respect Guarantee. With the Satisfaction Guarantee, if your new system doesn’t heat or cool your home to your satisfaction in the first two years, we remove it and refund 100% of your investment. Conditions apply, and you get the full terms in writing with your quote.
